United Nations experience
Erasmus has worked extensively within South Sudan on issues involving children and armed conflict, including the protection and reintegration of children affected by conflict and efforts to prevent recruitment and other grave violations against children.
His work has involved engagement with state institutions, security actors and communities on compliance with international child-protection standards.
He has participated in initiatives concerning:

- Demobilisation and reintegration
- Protection of displaced children
- Access to education
- Child marriage
- Community protection mechanisms
- Human-rights compliance
- Conflict-related protection risks
- Implementation of international child-protection commitments
Erasmus has risen into senior child-protection leadership within UNMISS, including responsibility for the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region. That experience brings to the firm something comparatively rare in conventional private practice: an understanding of international law not simply as doctrine, but as a framework that must function amid real governments, institutions, conflicts and international organisations.
